Executive MinisterRev. David Ankcorn is the Executive Minister of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship. Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, Rev. Ankcorn is the oldest child of Richard and Diane Ankcorn. David grew up in and was baptised at the Central Baptist Church on Easter 1983. During undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University and the University of Washington in Seattle, Rev. Ankcorn participated and led ministries in InterVarsity, Campus Crusade, and Fremont Baptist Church. After graduating from UW, Rev. Ankcorn served in East Asia as an English Teacher and Christian Worker.
After returning to the US in 1996, he married Jennifer Freeman. In 1998, David and Jennifer moved to Berkeley, CA to attend American Baptist Seminary of the West. Rev. Ankcorn graduated in 2001 with a Master of Divinity. He was awarded the Jessie Day Drexler Award for Pastoral Ministry and served as student body president.
In 2001, Rev. Ankcorn was installed as the Associate Pastor of Iglesia Bautista Portola-Portola Baptist Church. He was ordained by the church in 2003, and also attended the Instituto de Lengua Espanola to continue his Spanish language studies. At Portola, Rev. Ankcorn served youth, young adults, and families, often preaching in English and Spanish.
In 2008, Rev. Ankcorn resigned his position at Portola Baptist to return to Washington State to accept the position as Executive Minister at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship. He helps oversee the adminstrative staff, operations ministry, and project development of its new facility. Jennifer and Rev. Ankcorn are the proud parents of Elizabeth Grace and Stephen.
