Adult Church School Class Descriptions
New Member Class
Instructors: Pastor and Shelia Braxton Description: The New Member Class is a four week orientation of new members to the worship life, educational programs, ministry programs, and congregation life of NBCF. First, the new member is introduced to the history, mission, vision and values of NBCF. Second, the new member is assisted with discerning their spiritual gifts and matching them with the appropriate ministry assignment. Third, the new member is directed toward the appropriate Bible Study Class and/or Small Group assignment. Fourth, the new member is given basic instruction in Christian stewardship. Our Basic Beliefs Instructors: Clarence Williams Description: What do we believe and why do we believe it? What is the basis for our faith? Come get these answers and more as we explore our basic Christian beliefs. Not just for those new to the faith, this class if for all believers, new and old. St. Paul's Epistiles Instructors: Pastor Braxton Description: St. Paul's epistles, or the "Letters of Paul", are the New Testament books with authorship attributed to Paul the Apostle. These letters provide an insight into the beliefs and controversies of Early Christianity and, are foundational to Christian theology and Christian ethics. Old Testament Overview Instructors: Rev. David Ankcorn Description: You wouldn't skip the first half of a good book and read the end only. If you do you'll have a hard time understanding the characters, the plot, and the ending. In the same way, the New Testament is only completely understood when it is seen as being built on the foundation of the Old Testament. This class will give you a general overview of the Old Testament including the history of the people of Israel and their relationship with God. Starting From Scratch Insrtuctors: Barbara Bryant & Erma Evans Description: Are you looking for the place to begin your faith journey? If so, Starting From Scratch is the right place for you! In this class you will explore the basics of Christianity and of living a life that will be pleasing to the Lord. |
